Asheville Marathon March 3, 2013

It is time to start the spring marathon season and what better way to start than the Inaugural Asheville Marathon at the Biltmore.  This should be a great event and Ellen’s first marathon.  We knew that she just could not resist the marathon fever much longer.  We wish her great success and many more marathons.

Strawberry Plains Half & 10k hosts wind, snow and passion.

The Strawberry Plains half marathon and 10k hosted 600+ runners braving East Tennessee’s few winter days with winds up to 20 mph and snow flurries with a temp around 30 degrees. The passion for running was on display amongst the faces and actions of each person running, volunteering or supporting family and friends on the course. The course isn’t known to be flat, but it’s known to be very scenic with horses being the spectators, as 10k runners blaze the course to it’s turnaround at the 3.1 mile marker, then the half marathoners begin their journey to the 6 mile turnaround with the big hill. The event was well organized with some very well designed technical shirts for all runners, the race is the second race of the KTC high mileage winter series with the 3rd being the Whitestone 30k and 3-person Relay on a NOT so flat course. The breakfast at Whitestone is one of the best provided by any race around and isn’t one you want to miss. Take a look at the local news coverage of the Strawberry Plains Half & 10k race and we’ll see you at Whitestone!

Saturday run starts at 10:00 am

It is cold! We are going to delay the start of Saturday’s run until 10:00 am. According to the latest weather report the feels like should be 20 degrees. That keeps us within Robin’s Rules and hopefully healthier.

Rumor has it this is one hilly course, but with all the hill training can it really be that bad?  I guess we will find out January 28th …..

Here Piggy, Piggy, Piggy

Here Piggy, Piggy, Piggy

Once again, we are returning to Cincinnati on May 6th, 2012  for the Flying Pig Marathon (did we mention it is one of our favorite marathons of all time?).  After all, what is not to like about a 3d Piggy finishers medal with a finishing banner that reads ‘Finish Swine’?
