Turkey Trot Tradition

The group ventured out for their Thanksgiving tradition running a Turkey Trot or just spending time with family for a fun run. A few runners ran the Hot to Trot 2011 race that run through the Turkey Creek Shopping Center. I wasn’t able to make the event, but from what I’ve gathered the crew had a great time burning pre turkey calories and winning a few age groups along the way. Happy Thanksgiving!

Hot to Trot 2011 (

  • Al and Wayne got 1st and 2nd in their age group

  • Ellen and Sharon were 3rd and 4th in their age group

  • Robin was 5th in her age group

  • Radu ran a 10k at PR pace, finished in 56:28. His previous PR was 57:39 at the Expo 2009 (remember the Radu-Travis duel on the last stretch? ).

2011 Secret City Half Marathon

Congratulations to everyone who ran the Secret City Half Marathon in Oak Ridge this past Sunday. There were several PR’s set but the biggest achievement goes to Ron for completing his first Half Marathon. Good job Ron!

3:50:10 Double Victory

This pair of running partners trained trained 18+ weeks side by side holding each other accountable through speed session, tempo run and long runs. They even ran the Columbus Marathon together to finish with an impressive time of 3:50:10…that’s a PR for both Robin and Tony. I’m not sure if Robin had to yell at Tony to keep running during the marathon, but only they’ll know what was said on the course. Maybe one day they’ll tell us their secret.

Congratulations on sticking to your training and race day plan.
Your best marathon years are ahead for both of you.

Congrats Buddy’s BBQ 2011 Runners!

Congratulations to all the 2011 Buddy’s BBQ runners! It was a fun time and lots of good running going on. Of course, how can you not have fun with free BBQ waiting on you at the finish line! A special Booyah! goes out to Ellen and Sharon for placing 2nd and 3rd in their age group respectively. Nice job!2011 Buddy's BBQ 5k

Michelle’s 20 minute PR

I PR'd by 20 minutes.

I PR'd by 20 minutes.

She did it in a 20 minute PR fashion! Michelle ran the 2011 Columbus Marathon as her second marathon in an impressive time of 4:21:59 with an average pace of 10:00 per mile. Last word I heard she’d adds “I PR’d by 20 minutes” before every sentence these days. Congratulations on a solid performance Mrs. 20 minute PR and keep moving forward.

Knoxville Marathon PR’s & Pacers

Congrats to everyone who ran the Knoxville Marathon/Half Marathon this weekend! A special shout-out goes to Teresa, Sharon and Michelle who both PR’ed on a very hard course. Another shout-out goes to Wayne who paced the 5 hour full marathon group and crossed the finish line 1/10 of a second after 5 hours (how is that for precision).
